Abstract

In this talk, I will discuss 2 communication protocols where the quantum enhancement does not derive from entanglement. The first protocol I will discuss is entanglement distribution, where it is demonstrated that surprisingly, entanglement is not required to facilitate the actual distribution process. In second protocol I will discuss a quantum version of a protocol called Random Access Codes (RAC). Here, I will make some comparisons between quantum and classical resources, and show that separable states may not only enhance the performance of the protocol, it may also sometimes be more useful than entangled states.
